Super interesting article with a lot of input, I didn’t know that there was a correlation between Venus and the turtle, and I loved your connection to Bagua and the mythic turtle of Chinese cosmology.

There is also a fascinating aspect about mirrors you mentioned, since reflection always seems to indicate a depth from another side — in the ancient indigenous civilisation of the Taiyrona, the Kogi descendants use a bowl of water for their oracle, and they watch how bubbles surface on the water to interpret messages from the mother.

And last but not least, your beautiful gallery also made me think of the archetype of a carrier bag — which is also a big symbol in the Kogi culture, a bag woven by women with a distinct sling. The idea of this type of sling is also a symbol for the heart and womb in the ancient Chinese worldview, in fact, one of the characters for womb consists of the radical for moon and the radical for bag!

Love all those connections you have brought up! Thank you! And Yes the turtle seems to be popping up everywhere for me lately, it seems to appear in many creation stories from around the world.

Oh wow! You seem to know a lot about the South American indigenous cultures! I’m from the Caribbean and I’ve found it so hard actually to find details on the lesser known indigenous civilizations sadly! If you can point to any books or websites that would be awesome as I feel these earlier cultures hold so much valuable knowledge. Interesting the sling bag is symbolic of the womb and heart and etymologically you find that connection in the Chinese language tied to the moon. The moon seems like such a dubious luminary, as if almost stealing the aliases or qualities of other planets like Mercury and Venus but that’s probably a story for another day hehe 😉 still researching more on that myself. And yes! Water probably oldest mirror and used for scrying probably embedded in the story of Narcissus enamored with his reflection in the water. And we find water near or at sacred sites in form of springs, rivers, oceans, lakes etc, with stories of the well maidens who protect the water, or at oracular sites like Dodona and Delphi. There’s something to be said about the shared symbolism of water between Venus and the moon, with so many myths of planet Venus as embodied by a goddess, either being born of the sea, or associated with the flooding of rivers, bringing the rain and storms for the agricultural seasons as we find with tales of Inanna, Hathor etc. and of course the moon is connected to water in how it controls the tides etc, but also the reflection of the moon on a body of water is reminiscent of a floating mirror

So much feminine mystery laid out here. I’m excited for more. I’m interested in Feng shui and geomancy more, and its connection with Venus. I might have to read that part again and contemplate. This is the second time in a week it’s been brought to my attention by other women. This and a conversation with a friend about geopathic stress and the ways an environment is impacting us and vice versa.

Well there are countless of cultures that practice a type of geomancy, but I believe they all harken back to the idea that the earth is divided up into energy lines which some call “ley lines” - it’s the flow of currents of energy as we live on an electromagnetic planet. So it seems our ancestors across the globe somehow picked up on these highways or energy pathways and developed a protocol to manage them. As for instance, they believed even nature worked with or around these ley lines, hence why we may find natural clearings between trees in forests as they wouldn’t grow along the leylines as think of it as too much electric smog, hard to grow in them. And the Chinese Feng Shui system is based on idea that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, so they instead practice certain customs in using the 5 elements to counterbalance any over or under of the energies present in an area of the home or land. Maybe that was the first form of alchemy was working with these subtle energies in their elemental form

I loved how many synchronicities you shared in parallel to this conversation. I have done some resonance scans and they have shown that my body has, or is, experiencing geopathic stress. Whether it is where I live now or have lived in the past, I discussed with my friend on what I could do to support the land I live on now if this is the case. I would love to know if you have any resources for this specifically?

Oooh interesting! That is a loaded question hahaa! I’m no feng shui expert but I know from when I’ve gone looking to combat my own issues with my home, as it goes in cycles too, feng shui moves in cycles as well like this year is the wood snake (yin) energy think more along the lines of a vine. The house I’m in there is some tension lately that I have sensed last few years and when I dug into it, found out year it was built and land developed it could be that it needs a refresh of energy, that can come with various “treatments” in feng shui yo pacific or rebalance the energies plus I’m also aware that two streets from me is a massive housing development on what was woodland before. The blasting of the rock etc can sometimes anger the earth energies and upset the harmonies of anyone living near it. I think you’ve got to find out whether it’s in your current home that is unbalanced or whether it’s your body is unbalanced or a combination of both and go from there remembering we need to balance earth, metal, fire, water and wood. Maybe sit with it and see what comes intuitively comes up for you, first thing you think of is usually a clue to dig deeper. Could be mould even, keeping clutter or lots of broken things which in feng shui if you’re not gonna mend you need to get rid of as it stagnates the flow of energy in the home.

Thank you for your insight. This perspective of influences feels important to me in uncovering what the land wants. I intuitively feel like the land wants something in particular. I feel very held here, and grateful, and the home itself the spirit is very welcoming. However, some of the plants in our yard just don't grow and I feel it is connected to some stress that exists. I also know we live with a lot of underground water and I wonder if that has something to do with it. This encouraged me to let my perspective widen even more and really do deeper inquiry with the land.

Oooh interesting! You say there is a lot of underground water, again I’m no expert in feng shui or geomancy but sounds like “too much water” and you need to find an element that harmonises the too much water, like introducing the elements fire or metal depending on other factors present in your home. Have these plants always grown in those spots and suddenly dying ? Or are these new plants you’ve put in and failed at those sites? Recently I’ve started testing out where to put plants. I buy the plant and then I keep it in the pot until I sense where it wants to go, if I’m unsure I’ll actually sit the pot in the spot and see if it likes it or not. Maybe you can use a pendulum? I haven’t used it in that way but just thought of that as I’m sure a pendulum works a bit like a tuning fork for dowsing

So they grow very slowly. The veggies start great in our home when they get started by seeds indoors, and then when they go outside or get to a certain size, they stop growing for months. Then they will grow late in August or September. This is seemingly like an elemental clue perhaps? Some of the perennials stay on the smaller side, we’ve lost trees a few times due to various fungus/bacterial stuff and it just feels like they aren’t robust and nourished.

I woke up this morning to Venus shining outside my window and she inspired me to write an essay (which I'm about to publish), so receiving your essay shortly afterward was the perfect synchronicity. Thank you - I loved learning these insights <3
