This post blew my mind. I will never look at Aquarius the same! The snake to water to rainbow symbolism inmediately made me think of Oxumarê, the Orisha of renewal, transformation, and divine messages, represented by a rainbow snake. Even though he is a male Orisha, he possesses dual nature, uniting male and female, water and earth, mortality and immortality. He is the son of Nanã, an ancient and revered goddess of the primordial mud, the waters of creation. The original Mother, Grandmother, the crone. Also, YES, a thousand times yes, it's up to us to embody the dynamis of the Great Goddess and bring her back to the forefront. It is not an easy task when most of the Earth has been enslaved by the worshippers of a jealous god, but it is the mission we agreed to. We'll succeed or die trying! This was a great read. ✊🏻❤️‍🔥

Thank you! 💗 oh I did not know of Oxumare before! I need to add that one to my serpent symbolism! Thank you for that! 🙏

This is such a great article! I completely agree with the snake symbolism, and Steven Forrest includes it in his book The Inner Sky. Plus, if you haven’t read Geraldine Thorsten’s book “The Goddess in Your Stars” I highly recommend it. She says that the original Greek depiction of Aquarius was of the goddess Hebe, until they went down the patriarchal path.

I love how thoroughly you explore the symbolism in your work.

What an amazing post!! You covered so much ground! I really enjoyed the images of the terracotta Rebecca and the balsa wood Egyptian figure—but all were incredible. So glad you did not leave out the Maya, and Ix’chel. Also the feathered serpent plays a huge role in the Maya world, exemplified at Temple of Ku’kulkan, Chichen Itza. Suffice it to say, the serpent has gotten around. Re AQuarius, one of my favorite signs, what do you make of the transit of Pluto in Aquarius, in its roughly 248 transit cycle?. It was retrograding into Capricorn, but … the inevitable awaits. Just curious.

Aww thank you! I try as best as I can to bring in references from different parts of the world and cultures as I find more similarities than differences and so many are forgotten in the shadow of Ancient Greek and Egypt as they are so popular but at same time I find it hard to find sources about Asian countries like Korea, Japan or African countries besides Egypt and other parts of Europe and mesoamerica!

As for the Pluto transit into Aquarius, I feel the memory of the feminine, of the Mother, will be dug up even more, as Pluto is often compared to an excavator and bulldozer. So I can see last few years, Her memory being resurrected, surfacing slowly but it will be more so. Perhaps it’s not so much about building new tech outside of our bodies but remembering the technology we have already within our bodies. Again it’s up to us, as to our course of direction. But I feel the age of Aquarius will be a return or maybe a better word would be the remembrance of the divine feminine and our integration of it once again. It’s been this missing piece of our identity that has brought about a crisis of identity in the last 4-5 thousand years . Now we just need to remember faster than they upload our brains to AI haha

Another insightful work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 This especially resonates for me as I carry what I hope to be an Aquarius. I never thought of the origin of this sign being symbolic of feminine nature but the way you laid everything out, it makes total sense! Thank you for inspiring new thoughts within me!

Oooh you’re carrying a little rebel inside of you! Haha so much to say still about this sign’s symbolism and bring in the planets both ancient and modern rulers too in how they flavour the sign. Like Uranus the great awakener!

I shared it with an astrologer and she now can’t dispute it’s feminine but she did raise an interesting aspect through the Greek myth of this constellation that brings in the humanity into the sign but that myth is still masculinised heavily too
