Thank you @Danielle Wojcicki - as for Venus and Inanna connection, I don’t have a book per say entirely on it but the Sumerian tablets particularly with the creation myths that have been translated do for instance break down the gods in terms of the traditional 7 planets. Inanna is Venus and Marduk for example is meant to be who we call Jupiter nowadays. I’d say most astrology books cover the cross reference of the descent of Inanna with the cycles of Venus and we have evidence too of the Sumerian and Arkadian reliefs and sculptures of Inanna and Ishtar with poems that describe her emblems in particular the 8 pointed star as the star Venus. I actually do plan to write eventually about Venus based on the snippets I’ve gathered from various early history sources, to prove that the moon which came later, actually stole Venus’ role as the feminine guide in a woman’s cycles. The moon was overlayed onto Venus, it’s uncanny when we breakdown the numerology within the cycles of Venus how much more it relates to the woman’s cycles compared to the moon. Notice I barely mentioned the moon in my essay. You could say I have a not so friendly opinion and stance towards the moon, as I believe it actually manipulates mankind mentally and women’s fertility
I’ll go through some of the books I have and screen shot their covers and DM you. But I haven’t found a book so far that really completely encompasses Venus from the earliest archeological records we have and there are a many as I mentioned, it’s just they’ve been mostly interpreted as lunar
I can’t wait to hear allll about this Venus/Inanna/Women’s cycles connection. I believe it too because my pull toward Venus and Ishtar is wayyyyyy stronger than my interest in the moon. Interested to hear your take on the moon too! This will be so good 😌
Oooh! We should swap notes! Maybe hold a discussion like in a podcast format, as I think there are so many threads to pull with this topic and so funny when I joined substack back in July, I found your account cause of course we share Venus our account names haha but I also really resonated with what you’ve shared. 💗
I’ve been thinking a lot how to bring this topic to light of day, but I think I will have to break it up into parts as I think it’s easier broken up to read than my long ass essay rants haha
I’d love to!! Although I still have so much to learn with the Venus/Woman’s cycle connection. Your publication is absolutelyyyy my favorite favorite favorite on here, the resonance is real! So glad we crossed paths. Either if you break it up or put everything in long format, I’m reading it ALL 💗
Awww same! Yeah it’s a work in progress for me! We really have to be like archeologists sifting through the rubble to piece together it all, for too long we’ve had not just the male voice recording these stories but then centuries of the male scholars interpreting them.
And yes! That’s a great idea! We should do this haha will be fun
Wow! I’m very interested in how the moon doesn’t resemble women’s cycles as much as Venus. That will surely be a fun read, and I look forward to it. Thanks for sharing these insights with me.
Amazing writing. Our friend is a Vashtu architect and travels to India in deep study. He is told not to say the Shiva mantra in the Shakti temple, forgetting he is immediately punished so to speak. You say the Shakti mantra in the Shiva temple and the Shiva mantra in the Shakti temple is one of endless descriptions of the inseparable wHolos. From the perspective of the Absolute is it divided, gendered…? There is only one attribute in Monism, will. Rejection in the circle, is the sincerest form of flattery for it portends that this is not our home, nor our power. Your EweTorus cycle of the moon and his for skinning/foresaken to the circumscription by flesh and blood along w cutting the cord belongs to temporal spatial confinement. Will seeks ItSelf both objectively and subjectively. I love your path descriptions of getting out of objectification <3
Oh wow that is interesting! I did want to touch on some of the Shakti beliefs around the menstrual blood but didn’t know where to fit it in without having to write more paragraphs and I’m trying to condense my writing haha! I’ve always had a problem with summary skills since school days haha and being a “wordy” writer
Once again, you have intrigued me with your depth of research and artful connection while also teaching me a thing or two! Your daughter is so very lucky to have you as a mother, what a wealth of resource you are 🌹❤️🔥 Brava on another beautifully written piece of art 👏🏽 Looking forward to your next work.
Aww thank you! I think I’m catching up for years of totally bypassing this knowledge and now I’m getting stuck into understanding my body a lot better than I have been focusing on my mind, that I want to give my daughter more empowerment as she becomes an adult. 💗💗thank you Vashti
We can learn so much from ancient wisdom from indigenous cultures and mythologies-would love to hear more and discuss how we might reintegrate … you’re writings are a great start!!
Yes! There is so much to learn! But also to rediscover as considering for hundreds if not thousands of years male scholars were the only one with access to translate and interpret these records, and it’s only been in the 20th century that we’ve had some amazing female scholars, historians and archeologists who have looked through the symbolism from the female gaze to reveal new meaning. I can tell it’s going to be a very long work in progress for me studying these cultures and how to apply them in a modern lifestyle
And thank you for your time to read what I wrote 💗
Katriena, what a powerful piece! There is so much to comment on... I too have been taken with the Male god in the sky, birthing a male human who births the female. Really? And the snake in the garden, a story stolen from the Goddess. The snake was not a the Devil, but the Goddess herself. Now vilified in the Eden story. Women split between Madonna and Whore! Innocence and Passion - where never the two shall meet. For in that meeting is the power of Woman! For in polarity there are no cycles. And woman do bleed and cycle.
I had problems with my first birth, but my second one I did it without any drugs. The thrill of feeling him enter the canal and exit the vagina was exquisite. I also stopped using tampons, I just couldn't adhere to that plug me up way of thinking. Powerful to feel the blood leave the body, to witness its flow and then its ebb. All the stages.
Thanks Katriena, for all the research you did here. What an in depth and needed piece. Loved the rewriting of alchemy for women - the picture is wonderful and how it breaks down to the parts of the cycle as one complete continual circle.
Oh wow thank you Julie and I resonate with every word you’ve written! What really haunts me is when you said “For in polarity there are no cycles” my gosh that is profoundly true! You’ve hit the nail on the head there! I can also see Eve in the garden “breaking one of the covenants around the menstrual seclusion” and being punished thereafter for causing some cosmic disaster.
Sadly I feel robbed of experiencing childbirth myself as I was told very early on I had to have a c section birth as she would be breached and she was breached the whole pregnancy. But I felt it in another way through a miscarriage many years after in which I bled profusely for 4 weeks! And hence why I created that image of the pomegranates bleeding down the legs, as that experience as traumatic as it was also awakened in me some deep soul work that I’ve since become obsessed with all things red haha
Thank you so much for your profound thoughts and contributions in your comment!
Wow, I have never experienced miscarriage. I can only imagine... What you share here sounds like a powerful event, both traumatic and as an awakening of creativity. The pictures you share in the post speak deeply of the need to be more open about menstruation and women's blood. Loved the ones with the pomegranates. A fruit symbolic of cycles.
I loved this piece, Katriena. I would love to know more about Inanna and the Venus connection. Do you have a recommendation?

Totally agree. And I’m so down, I’ll message you sometime this week about it!

It was such a joy to read this mythology as I menstruate during eclipse season. Thank you so much for this research and writing ❤️
Oh my gosh! What timing with your red blood moon! 💗 hope you are pausing and making time for yourself during your bleed.
I had the same thought, Leila.
THIS! A thousand times yes!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥🌹❤️🔥❤️🔥 reclaiming what the Patriarchy stole from us, one drop of blood at a time.
Love that! One drop of blood at a time we reckon our power within
